Kathmandu, 22 December: The Supreme Court has issued yet another interim order to halt works related to construction of the proposed Nijgadh international airport. The joint bench of SC chief justice Cholendra S. Rana and justice Kumar Regmi today gave the verdict to immediately stop cut-down of the trees in the process of construction of the airport. Environmental activists have become active along with the government plan to construct the airport earliest as possible as an alternate to the present Tribhuvan International Airport. Experts say that TIA is already congested and the proposed Nijgadh airport can be the only alternate for TIA. Therefore, they have suggested to construct Nijgadh international airport as soon as possible. People’s News Monitoring Service
