Kathmandu, 22 June: Nepal and Bangladesh have agreed to jointly invest in the feasible hydropower projects in Nepal. They have also conceded to collaborate and cooperate on alternative energy and electricity export to Bangladesh.
A meeting of the Energy Secretaries of both countries held in Dhaka deceided to jointly invest in the projects as stated in the whitepaper issued after the last meeting.The Energy Ministry had included the projects ensuring at least one in each State, according to Minsitry of Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation
Bangladesh has formulated a policy to import 9,000 MW electricity from Nepal by 2040. For this, construction of transmission line, selection of projects and cooperation on alternative energy are in focus.
