Kathmandu, 5 June: The ruling Nepal Communist Party has once again failed to finalise the criteria for the selection of its district in-charges and their deputies. According NCP spokesperson Narayan Kaji Shrestha, the party secretariat meeting that was expected to discuss the issue concluded without making any decision.
The meeting could not forge unity as the secretariat is divided over whether the leaders holding positions of ministers and lawmakers at provincial and federal levels can become district in-charges and deputies.
Party chairman Khadga Oli wants to allow the lawmakers and ministers to lead the party in the districts whereas some influential leaders including former prime minister Madhav Kumar Nepal oppose him.
