Kathmandu, 14 May :Activities to collect garbage from Mt Everest area have been accelerated with coordination of Nepal Army.

Clean Mountain Campaign has been launched to remove the garbage piled up in the world’s highest peak area. So far, 2,000 kg of garbage has been brought to Kathmandu from Mt Everest area while 2,000 kg was taken to Okhaldhunga.

According to Nepal Army, the clean-up campaign has been launched in coordination of Ministry of Forest and Environment, Ministry of Defence, Ministry of Tourism and Civil Aviation, State government, Nepal Mountaineering Association, Khumbu Pasang Lhamu rural municipality and Nepal Army.

The Clean Mountain Campaign is to organise public awareness in Kathmandu and special programme in Namche of Solukhumbu in coordination among the bodies on the occasion of World Environment Day.
