Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli had taken a decision to bring back the government land of Lalitniwas that was grabbed by land mafias. A Cabinet meeting of March took this decision.
Prime Minister Oli gave the responsibility to bring back the 124 ropnais of land registered in the name of individuals to the Commission for Investigation of Abuse of Authority and the Central Bureau Investigation of Nepal Police as recommended by the committee led by former secretary Sharada Prasad Trital.
Although in the past no report of the investigation committees were implemented, the present move of the government looks encouraging in this context. If the government brings the land in the government’s name and punishes the wrongdoers, it will end the career of many politicians and business tycoons.
