Himalaya Airlines is all set to operate direct flights from Kathmandu to Saudi Arabia’s Dammam on a daily basis from September 1. Himalaya Airlines informed that the flights were announced to ease the flow of passengers in the festive seasons of Dashain and Tihar during which Nepali migrant workers return home to celebrate with their families. The airlines claimed that the direct flights would save time and money of the Nepali workers. Saudi Arabia is one of the major labour destinations of Nepali workers.
Himalaya Airlines’ aircraft will depart for Saudi Arabia from Tribhuvan International Airport at 10.30 pm local time and land at King Fahd International Airport, Dammam at 12:50 local time. The aircraft will fly back from Dammam carrying passengers an hour later and will arrive at Kathmandu at 9.15 am local time.
The one-way ticket to Dammam from Kathmandu would cost Rs 23,800 while the cost of two-way ticket is Rs 38,000 exclusive of taxes.
Himalaya Airlines’ Vice President Bijay Shrestha said that the direct flights will ease the problem of long transit and various other problems that Nepalese have to undergo during their journey.
