At the last hours, the government has postponed its decision of introducing a clean feed on foreign television channels. The Ministry for Information and Communications had announced implementation of clean feed on foreign television channels effective from 16 July. But on 15 July midnight, the government took back its own decision. It is learnt that after Indian pressure, the government has been compelled to take back the decision.
What is clean feed?:
Clean feed is restriction of telecasting foreign advertisements while telecasting their TV programmes. Such a restriction is good as the foreign companies were benefiting from free of cost advertisements to the Nepali viewers. If clean feed is implemented, such foreign advertisement clippings will not be telecast at free of cost. From such a provision, the local advertisement markets would have been benefited enormously. However, the Indian television channels, which are enjoying free of cost advertisements in the Nepali market, have become able to make the Nepal government surrender once again.
