Sunrise Bank has paid compensation to a depositor under the bank’s ‘depositor's accident insurance arrangement’ scheme.
The bank handed Rs 5,00,000 to the next-in-kin of Hari Timsina, an account holder of the bank who died in a road accident.
Pramod Kumar Das, manager of Surunga branch of the bank, handed a cheque to Rita Paudel, wife of the deceased.
The bank had launched the scheme in collaboration with Shikhar Insurance. Under the scheme, the banks customers are entitled to insurance amount not exceeding Rs 5,00,000 or up to four times the amount in the depositor’s account, in case of his/her death or permanent disability.
