By Our Reporter Former Chief Minister of Sikkim Nar Bahadur Bhandari died on Sunday at the age of 77. Bhandari, who served as the second chief minister of Sikkim after the tiny Himalayan Kingdom was annexed into India in 1975, remained in the office for three terms from 1979 to 1994, for the longest period. He breathed his last following a cardiac arrest at a New Delhi-based hospital. He had entered politics by forming the Sikkim Sangram Parishad. He had played the key role to include Nepali in the Indian constitution. However, he was not happy with the way Sikkim was annexed. Bhandari is survived by his wife, a former parliamentarian, two daughters, and a son. With Bhandari’s demise, Sikkim has lost a politicians and Nepal a friend.
