It was evident from the positive gestures expressed by the Chinese leaders towards building railways in Nepal during the summit. China has assured Nepal that it would consider the proposal to construct railways in the Himalayan nation, reported The Rising Nepal, the official English daily. During the meeting with Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Krishna BahadurMahara in Beijing, ChineseVice Premier Wang Yang said that China ‘would look at the proposal from Nepal on constructing railways in Nepal.’ According to a press release issued by the Nepalese Embassy in Beijing, the Chinese also side said it would take up the matter of reopening the Tatopani border with priority. The border has remained closed since the devastating earthquake of April 2015 although reconstruction of the road was completed some six months ago. China also agreed to support power generation projects under the energy generation framework agreement.
