By Our Reporter Baburam1-03042017081544-1000x0Police on Sunday arrested former Prime Minister and chairman of Naya Sahkti Dr Baburam Bhattarai from Jamal. He was arrested while protesting against the Election Commission that denied election symbol to his party for the forthcoming local elections. Leaders of Naya Shakti and other fringe parties including the Baidhya-led Maoist have been protesting against the EC. The police released Dr Bhattarai in the evening although he denied to be released for a while stating that he would not be ready to go out of the police office until his demands were met. Interestingly, Bhattarai’s arrest in Kathmandu received importance in the Indian media with most online portals publishing his news with high importance. He also accused the police of badly treating him in the police custody.
