By Our Reporter Bimalendra Nidhi, deputy prime minister and home minister is of the view that Nepal should enhance relations with India by discouraging relations with Nepal’s northern neighbour China. Time and again, he has advised PM PushpakamalDahal saying that there is no need to look towards the north. This has caused delay in signing of the impending agreements scheduled to be signed by the previous government led by KP Sharma Oli. As PM Dahal and his team have failed to give priority on endorsement of the agreements held during the visit of the then PM KP Sharma Oli, the Chinese part has also expressed its dissatisfaction by postponing the meetings that had to be held at the secretary levels of both the countries. Although the leaders in the government are lauding for the visit of Chinese President Xi Jinping, necessary homework has not been done by Nepal for the visit. The Chinese side is not happy from the performance of Nepali foreign minister Prakash Saran Mahat, close aide of NC President SherBahadurDeuba. During the recent visit of the Chinese politburo member and chef of the publicity department of the Communist Party of China, who is considered as an important leader, the Foreign Ministry had not only maintained low profile treatment but also tried to humiliate him by inviting the foreign minister of Mongolia during the same time. According to Jana Aastha vernacular weekly run by KishorShrestha, the chairman of the Nepal-China Journalist Forum, the Chinese leader was received by a junior foreign ministry officer during his arrival here. The Weekly has reported that the Chinese leader returned home with humiliating experiences from the host country. Similarly, the vernacular Weekly has reported that the Chinese side had requested the Home Ministry not to allow the Tibetans carrying Chinese passport to go to India after they arrive here with tourist visa. The Weekly has reported that the Chinese Tibetans are found visiting Nepal in tourist visa and once they arrive to Nepal, they go to Dharamshala to meet the Dalai Lama. The Chinese side had asked the Home Ministry for not allowing them to go to Dharamshala without travel document. But the Home Ministry didn’t cooperate to the Chinese side, from which, the Chinese side is unhappy, the Weekly has reported. If the government will not try to understand China’s security concern, the relations with our northern neighbour can become further cold.
