Popular Nepali folk rock band Nepathya enthralled thousands of music lovers at Tudikhel on Saturday evening, Jan 7. The band performed at the Grand finale of Bajaj Motorcycle’s bike reality show, Pulsar Dare Venture 2, which was organised by Bajaj Motorcycles. Huge-crowds“This historic ground has witnessed many changes in Nepal,” said Nepathya front man Amrit Gurung to the crowd mixed with youth including dignitaries from various walks of life. “From this very historic venue, let us all be committed to start a new journey of change; change that will bring smile to the people of Nepal,” he appealed. As scheduled, the show started with Nepathya performing their new number ‘Kuroop Anuhar ho…yahan kohi saathi chaina’. After singing the song, Amrit shared with the audience, “This song was written by poet Sarubhakta 35 years ago, long before Nepathya and most of you were born.” Saru Bhakta, a Madan Puraskar recipient, who was present at the concert said, “I am moved by the musical adaptation of my work. I thank Nepathya for reviving this song.” “The use of chorus in the song has touched me the most,” he added. Saru Bhakta, who started his writing career in the late 1970’s has penned many plays, novels and poems beside songs. The show proceeded with back to back hit numbers like ‘Bhedako Oon’, ‘Chekyo Chekyo’, ‘Lampate Surati’, ‘Chari Maryo’ and ‘Jomsome Bazarma’. Before closing the show with the Nepathya rendition of ‘Rato ra Chandra Surya’, Amrit said, “We need to remain united, as we are all Nepali first. Let us all pray and protect our symbol of unity, our flag; our Rato ra Chandra Surya.” Also during the concert the Pulsar Dare Venture II winners were announced. Rider Ram Bikram Thapa was declared Nepal’s Best Rider and won a cash prize of Rs 10 lakhs. Bikram KC was announced Nepal’s Best Rider runner-up and won a cash prize of Rs 5 lakhs, while Sudip Shrestha was declared the Most Popular Rider. All three winners rode home with a Pulsar NS bike. Managing Director of Bajaj Motorcycles Nepal Shekhar Golcha gave away the prizes to the winners.
