By Our Reporter As the ruling parties are bracing to amend the constitution, enmity between the ruling Maoist and Opposition CPN-UML has further increased. The UML outright rejected the Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal’s appeal to support the amendment proposal. In a meeting held in Baluwatar on Monday evening, UML chairman KP Oli not only opposed the proposal but termed it as an anti-national move and urged PM Dahal not to register the proposal in the parliament. He also threatened to obstruct the registration of the proposal in the parliament. UML leader Bam DevGautam told the PM that the amendment proposal will violate the constitution. The Monday meeting that concluded inconclusively clearly suggested that the amendment proposal will not be endorsed by the parliament. Earlier on Saturday, PM Dahal threatened to go back to his agenda if the UML did not agree to amend the constitution. In the weekly NTV show the PM however did not clarify what his agenda was. The comment of Dahal was also responsible for the failure of the Monday meeting as Oli felt insulted by Dahal’s remarks. The public is also opposing the exercise being made to amend the constitution which is yet to be implemented. There is not any guarantee that the Madhes-based parties will accept the constitution even after the amendment. What the parties will do if the Madhesi leaders keep on making more demands.  Instead, there is a danger of inserting unwanted provision in the constitution. The UML leaders also suspect that amendment is not the genuine demand of the Madhes-based parties. They claim that the Madhes-based parties were opposing it during its promulgation and they will still be opposing it even after its amendment. Meanwhile, UpendraYadav has threatened to launch another round of agitation in Terai. But will the people support them as the Terai people have always been deceived by the Madhesi leaders? Again other Madhesi parties suspect each move of Yadav.
