No one knows what the actual demands of the agitating Madhesi leaders is and at whose instruction they are working in Nepal.
The Madhesi leaders who have been boycotting the parliament meeting for the past few days have given additional 15 days for the government to register the constitution amendment proposal in the parliament in a dramatic move.
Of course, it is not known why the Madhesi leaders who have been boycotting the parliament stating that the government did not table to constitution amendment bill extended time by 15 days to register the proposal.
According to news report, when the lawmakers from the Madhesi parties were addressing the parliament meeting criticizing the government for not registering the amendment proposal, Upendra Yadav was giving a 15-day time for the Prime Minister to register the same.
This decision of Yadav has been a big respite for the government though it may cause a division among the Madhesi parties.
Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal was elected to the post of Prime Minister promising to amend the constitution before Dashain. But he has not registered the amendment proposal even after Chhath.
Dahal is fearing that the CPN-UML may not support the amendment proposal. Instead of registering the amendment proposal, he has been trying to convince CPN-UML chair KP Oli to support the amendment proposal.
However, it looks unlikely that the UML will support the government to amend the constitution. The UML leaders have been expressing their views against the idea of amending the constitution which is yet to be implanted fully. If Oli does not agree with PM Dahal to amend the c onstitution, the latter may not register the proposal even in 15 days.
