By Our Reporter The lawmakers’ demand for increase in their facilities including a provision to exempt customs while importing their motors has drawn public flak. The lawmakers, who remain divided on important national issues, forged consensus when forwarding their demand for increasing their facilities. The lawmakers in Nepal had earned a bad name for purchasing customs free cars during the time when Sher Bahadur Deuba was leading a coalition government in 1996. However, the lawmakers succeeded to increase their salaries and other allowances at a time when the earthquake victims have been living in temporary makeshifts for two years. The demands of the lawmakers show that they are in politics to increase their own salaries, not to support the poor and the needy people.
