Therefore, he had requested Dahal to wait till President Xi’s visit to Kathmandu to handover the prime ministerial post to Dahal. Dahal, who was backed by the Indians to topple Oli led government, didn’t wish to wait till October. By quoting the language used by Dahal regarding the visit of President Xi, this weekly had reported that there was less chance for the visit of President Xi. Recent developments confirm that President Xi is not visiting Nepal in the foreseeable future, say diplomatic observers. After completing his tenure, Ambassador Wu Chuntai is returning home soon. Beijing has named Yu Hong as China’s new ambassador to Nepal. Nepal’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs received an agremo for her confirmation two weeks ago, reports state. Yu is a career diplomat and she was Consul General in Sarabaya of Indonesia recently. It is believed that the new ambassador would arrive in Kathmandu in late October or early November. On the above background, diplomatic observers have remarked that if President Xi had the schedule to visit Kathmandu in October, the incumbent ambassador Wu have had also prolonged his stay here. If President Xi would have visited Kathmandu, Nepal could have been rewarded with a huge amount of grant support, say sources. Furthermore, President Xi’s visit could give a new dimension to the existing Nepal-China relations. However, the Indians were not happy from the possible visit of President Xi and one of the reasons to topple Oli government was to disturb President Xi’s visit, say political observers. Dahal has played the role to avoid President Xi’s visit, the very observers believe. Now, Dahal is trying to manage time to meet President Xi at the sideline meeting of the BRICS taking place in Goa. BIMSTEC member countries are also invited as the observers to attend CRICS and if Dahal will get chance to meet President Xi, he is planning to go to Goa Summit, reports state. Meanwhile, India has decided for not attending the SAARC Summit scheduled to be held in Pakistan this year. It makes clear that India wants to corner SAARC organization and promote BIMSTEC due to her enmity with Pakistan. Therefore, by discarding SAARC member countries, India has invited BIMSTIC member countries’ executive chiefs.
