By Our Reporter dil-bahadur-shresthaDil Bahadur Shrestha, also known as “Sanobabu”, former minister for health, supplies, home, who was the Rastriya Panchayat member for decades after introduction of the Panchayat System since 1960 representing Sunsari district, passed away Sunday morning at 1 a.m. in Kathmandu. Late Shrestha was also the central committee member of the Back to Village national Campaign. He came to the political limelight after he contested the elections with late BP Koirala and was defeated by a small margin against Koirala. Since then, he always remained active in politics and social works. Still, he is regarded as a great man who always helped the deprived people in his district and still popular among the people in the district. Shrestha never compromised against his vision and belief on patriotism and always stood strongly on behalf of his belief even during the adverse situation. Late Shrestha was a great fan of the People’s Review and always encouraged the People’s Review team to continue the Weekly. Demise of such a personality is a great loss to the nation. When Shrestha was physically unable to remain active in politics, the local people in the district urged him to give his one son to lead them. Senate Shrestha, who was in business, under the pressure of the locals, quit his business and became active in politics in the district and also became the minister later. Currently, Senate is leading the Greater Nationalist Front which has launched a nationwide movement to restore the 1990 constitution having constitutional monarchy and multiparty democracy with a Hindu nation. Late Shrestha is survived by his wife and three sons – Bijaya Shrestha, Senate Shrestha, Cabinet Shrestha (a leading businessman) and seven daughters. Late Shrestha’s last rites were performed at Aryaghat on Wednesday. The People’s Review family is shocked from sudden demise of a great patriotic leader. The Weekly family prays to the Almighty for the eternal peace of the departed soul and extends heartfelt condolences to all the members of the bereaved family.
