By Our Reporter kp-oli-chandragiri-visitCPN-UML chair who has earned fame as a nationalist leader has floated a proposal of erecting a statue of King Prithvi Narayan Shah at the Chnadragiri hill. King Prithvi Naryana Shah, the unifier of Nepal, had first seen Kathmandu valley from Chandragiri hill and determined to conquer it. Later he realized his dream by unifying Nepal into a strong kingdom. Former PM Oli pointed out the need for building a statute of King PN Shah at the important point to pay tribute to the late king. However, he said the objective of erecting the statute would be to promote tourism in the hill which was recently connected to the capital city with cable car. Oli floated the proposal during Chandragiri hill tourism promotion programme organised by the UML’s tourism special area committee. "The Chandragiri hill is a historical place; it also carries a religious importance. Prithvi Narayan Shah had planned to annex the three cities in the Valley after viewing them from here, and finally succeeded in doing so. So, let's erect his statue to remember such towering personality in Nepali history," Oli said.
