By our Reporter The Campaign of the Old Force, which has been organizing corner assemblies at Bhotahitti, Kathmandu every Friday for several months, has decided to expand its organizational strength and launch nationwide campaign for the restoration of the 1990 constitution. The activists of the Campaign are visiting different parts of the country to protest the present constitution. The Campaign has also decided to expand its organizational strength by incorporating the organsations/individuals having similar belief. The Campaign has decided to launch protest programmes nationwide on 19 September, the day of the promulgation of the present constitution and also decided to burn the copies of the constitution. PL Singh, NC leader who is against the present constitution, is visiting Baglung and Pokhara to attend the protest programme against the constitution. Singh, on Friday assembly at Bhotahitti, said that the present constitution has been drafted in the interests of the foreign powers, therefore, it is not acceptable for the Nepali people. Singh is campaigning for the restoration of the 1990 constitution as that constitution was written by the Nepali people, the king and the political forces amicably. To guarantee peace, unity, prosperity, national sovereignty and independence, the 1990 constitution has to be endorsed, said Singh. Singh alleged the political leaders who were involved in the 2006 April uprising as being disparaging the nation and they will be punished very soon. The change in 2006 has invited anarchism in the country, which is in the interests of India, he alleged. Speaking at the same function, Mani Lama, former minister, said that the nation has become a victim of foreign powers’ conspiracy. He also blamed the King for not taking a bold step even after witnessing the foreign powers’ conspiracy. Lama further said that the institution of monarchy should not remain silent without having any role. Coordinator of the Campaign, senior advocate Balkrishna Neupane said that by removing the Hindu nation’s status, the foreign elements have ended global identity of this nation. He also said that the modality of federalism is a move to Sikkimise this independent country. To stop Nepal from becoming Afghanistan or Iraq, the institution of monarchy has to be restored, he said.
