The fest, that will feature expanded concerts, workshops and master classes, will take place at two venues in the Capital—Hotel Yak & Yeti in Durbarmarg and Tangalwood in Tangal—starting from September 14 through September 18. The festival is a platform that features a variety of both eastern and western classical music. Daniel Linden, founder and president of the festival, shares: “Following last year’s well-attended fair, we have decided to introduce a new variety of classical music-chamber music and other eastern and western folk sensibilities-for this year’s gala.” The fest features musicians from both Nepal and abroad. Performing during the event will be classical guitarists Brendan Evans (USA), Paul Cesarczyk (Poland/USA) and Rupert Boyd (Australia); Nepali didgeridoo player Salil Subedi; Rabin Lal Shrestha (Nepal) on percussion; cellist Laura Metcalf (USA); pianist Neecia Majolly (India); violinist Rebecca Jackson (USA); cellist Franck Bernede with the Singhini Consort (France/Nepal); Night (Nepal); KANTA dAb dAb (Nepal); and vocalists Inoue Sou (Japan) and Vishal Bhattarai (Nepal), among others. Along with musical performances the event will also provide workshops and master classes for aspiring musicians. The festival is organised by the Gharana Music Foundation in association with Sushila Arts Academy, D’Addario Foundation, Yamaha, Austin Classical Guitar, and Tangalwood.
