By Our Reporter A debate between Deputy Prime Minister Bimalendra Nidhi and UML vice chairman Bhim Rawal turned nasty both exchanging harsh words. While Rawal accused DPM Nidhi of being an Indian agent, Nidhi accused Rawal of being the agent of the European Union. The debate between the two had ensud at the meeting of the International and Labour Committee of the Parliament when Rawal demanded that the letter that Nidhi handed over to Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi on behalf of Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal be made public. Rawal claimed that the letter contained reference to Nepal’s new constitution, and its prospective amendment. He said this was against the spirit of national independence. In response, Nidhi said the letter was just an acknowledgement to Modi for congratulating Dahal and it had updated the Indian PM on Nepal’s political developments. Nidhi said PM Dahal had also written a letter to Chinese Premier Li Keqiang in the same spirit that he had sent to the Indian Prime Minister, but questioned the intent behind the demand for making public only the letter handed over to the Indian PM. When Nidhi refused to make the diplomatic letter public claiming it was sent by the Prime Minister to his counterpart, Rawal called him an agent of India and in response Nidhi called Rawal as an agent of EU. The House panel had summoned Deputy Prime Ministers Nidhi and Krishna Bahadur Mahara over their recent visits to India and China, respectively. Minister for Foreign Affairs Prakash Sharan Mahat was also summoned. When two senior leaders of two major parties accused each other of being agents of particular forces, suspicions are now rife as to which leaders were true politicians and which only agents of foreign forces. The political activities of the last two decades also showed that many a leader has been working in the interest of the foreign forces. Making Nepal republic, secular and federal state was not the demand of the Nepalese people but the leaders decided to declare Nepal a secular federal republic as per the instructions of their foreign masters. When the leaders followed the instructions of foreign forces ignoring the people’s demand, the country has now been in a mess.  Secularism and federalism have been the seeds of all the problems the country is now facing. These same leaders were never ready to decide the issue of federalism, secularism and monarchy through referendum, one of the most democratic means to sort out any political disputes, but blindly accepted instructions of the foreign masters. The dispute ensued between Rawal and Nidhi had at least ended by disclosing a fact the leaders in Nepal were working for one foreign force or another by completely ignoring the demands of the Nepalese people.
