Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Home Affairs Krishna Bahadur Mahara said that Chinese President Xi Jinping and Chinese Prime Minister Li Keqiang were positive about visiting Nepal.
Mahara told this to journalists upon his arrival at the Tribhuvan International Airport after completing his five-day visit to the northern neighbour.
Chinese President Xi’s proposed Nepal visit in October was uncertain following the collapse of the K.P. Oli-led government a month ago as there were media reports that the Oli-led government was pulled down under the Indian design to foil Xi’s Nepal visit as well as the agreements signed by Oli with China.
But Mahara’s China visit showed otherwise. “Chinese President Xi Jinping is willing to visit Nepal and the date for the same will be finalised at the top leadership level soon,” Mahara said adding , “Chinese Premier Li Keqiang informed us about President Xi’s willingness to visit Nepal,”
Convincing the Chinese leaders for the Chinese President’s Nepal visit was the biggest achievements made by Mahara during his China visit.
DPM Mahara said that an understating was reached to keep the foreign ministries of both the countries at standby for visit by Chinese President Xi.
