The ninth iteration of the Nefta Award—Nepal Film Technicians’ Award—is scheduled to be held in December, in the UAE. The Award was previously held in Hong Kong, Malaysia and Qatar.
The announcement was made by the organisers, during an event, held in Dubai, on August 21. The event will be organised in association with Spectrum Advertising and Media Consultant and Concept Vision.
Speaking during the meet, Pushkar Lama, chairperson of the Association, expressed his excitement at the upcoming event, and said, “Like previous iterations, this year too we are going to host the function overseas, owing to the excitement shown by Nepali migrants living overseas.”
“The function is not just about distributing awards, however,” he added, “it will also see a host of cultural performances, that, we hope, will go on to promote Nepali movie industry and culture in the world.”
NEFTA Film Awards has officially decided to rename itself as NEFTA International Film Awards. “As our event is hosted internationally, we agreed that it is better to name it as an international award. Also, with this event our aim is to represent Nepali cinema globally,” Lama said.
The event is scheduled to be held on December 21.
