In the no-trust motion registered against the KP-Oli-led government, the CPN-Maoist Centre and the NC had accused Oli of not moving the reconstruction works ahead smoothly. But even after the formation of the coalition government of CPN-Maoist Centre and the Nepali Congress under Pushpa Kamal Dahal, the reconstruction works have not gathered pace. Moreover, reconstruction works have not become the priority of the government as both ruling parties have been spending their energies in addressing the rift within their parties.
Even the government has been unable to provide the first installment to the earthquake victims. It is noteworthy to mention here that the NC as the main opposition party in the parliament had obstructed the House proceedings demanding that the victims should be provided the relief amount of Rs 300,000 to the victims in one go. Later, the NC ended the obstruction after the Oli-led government agreed to provide half of the amount in the first installment. But now the government of the Maoist and NC is not in position to give the victims Rs 150,000 in the first installment as the donors have objected to the agreement. Hence, the UML is likely to obstruct the House in the tit for tat manner, which will result in further delay in pushing the reconstruction works ahead.
