177 By Tabassum Kashmiris observe 15 August (Indian Independence Day) as black day every year. They express full hate against India and condemn Indian imperialism for continuously refusing Kashmiris right of self-determination. They also inform the whole world about Indian atrocities against unarmed Kashmiris male, female and children which are struggling for liberation from India. The aim of black day is to show hate against Indian forcibly occupation at Kashmir since last 69 years. They also condemn the genocide of Kashmiris in Indian occupied Kashmir (IOK). Anti-India rallies and protest demonstrations are staged in all cities and towns, both sides of Line of Control (LoC). Participants wear black bands around their arms, in rallies and protests. Black flags are also raised on houses, shops, market centers and squares at both sides of LoC. Protestors burn Indian flags and effigy of Indian officials. In Azad Jammu & Kashmir, anti-India rallies and meetings are also staged in all cities including capital city Muzaffarabad and all other nine districts. People from all walks of life, will reiterate severe hate against Indian imperialism. A joint statement of the united Hurriyat leadership issued and said that 15th of August would be observed as ‘black day’ amid ‘civil curfew’. People are asked to block all roads toward and around the place of 15th of August celebrations. In Kashmir, current freedom movement started from January 1989. Indian forces have killed over 94 thousand Kashmiris since 1989. Custodial Killings are 7 thousand. Indian army has arrested 135 thousands of Kashmiris. More than 22 thousand women are widows. Numbers of orphans are over 107 thousands. Approximately, 10 thousands of women are gang raped. Indian army destroyed 106,071 structures. Entire Kashmiri leadership has been arrested. When Indian forces martyred commander of Hizbul Mujahideen Burhan Muzaffar Wani on 8th of July, 2015, Kashmiris came out from their houses. Curfew is imposed in IOK from above date. Kashmiris are at roads and daily taking protest against Indian brutality. Dozens of Kashmiris have been killed by Indian Forces. Hundreds have lost their eye-sight due to palette guns. On the other, Indian forces have injured thousands of Kashmiris by using firing. Freedom movement of Kashmir is at peak now a day. Kashmiris offer their Asar Prayer on roads daily. They arrange protests daily, carrying Pakistani flags. They shout slogans in favor of Pakistan & independence. They throw stones on Indian army in response of palette gun firing, tear gas. In first time of Kashmir history, a boat rally was arranged in Bijbehara area of South Kashmir. Hundreds of people inside the boats were chanting slogans of pro freedom and waving Pakistani flags. Since 9th of July, Authorities did not allow Kashmiris to offer congregational prayers in Jamia masjid Srinagar. People of other districts were not allowed even to step out of their residences. They were barred from reaching the central mosques to offer congregational prayers. Every person who likes justice, even from India, is condemning what Indian army is doing in Kashmir. There are many examples but I will quote only two. Former regent of Kashmir state Dr Karan Singh said that let us not forget that 50 percent of the original state of Jammu and Kashmir is not under our control. Palette guns should be banned. There was a massive humanitarian problem which should also be looked into. He said: “We have to introspect why thousands of young people are embarked on a path which can only bring death and destruction.” Writing more, Arundhati Roy spoke in Srinagar that for all these years the Indian state has done everything it can to subvert, suppress, represent, misrepresent, discredit, interpret, intimidate, purchase—and simply put down the voice of the Kashmiris. It has used money (a lot of it), violence (a lot of it), disinformation, propaganda, torture, elaborate networks of collaborators and informers, terror, imprisonment, blackmail and rigged elections to subdue what democrats would call ‘the will of the people’. Roy concluded with words, “India needs azadi from Kashmir as much as Kashmir needs azadi from India.” Concluding more, Kashmiris are facing Indian cruelty & barbarism since many decades. We should support Kashmiris in every situation. We should raise voice in favor of Kashmiris. Government of Pakistan should raise this issue in UN and OIC. It should expose the Indian terrorism in Kashmir. May Allah help Kashmiris.
