Thaneshwar Ghimire By Our Reporter   Social worker and businessman Thaneshwar Ghimire, 86, passed away on 2 August. Born in a village near Memmo, Myanmar, Ghimire is one among the pioneer transportation entrepreneurs. When Ghimire was in Myanmar, he had played a vital role in construction of the Durga Temple in Memmo. He had planted a Pipal tree in the Temple premises by carrying the plant from Lumbini. He was involved in different businesses, including transport service in Memmo city. When the then government in Myanmar decided to nationalize people’s property in Myanmar, King Mahendra asked him to come to Nepal and start his business here. By respecting King Mahendra’s request, Ghimire returned to Nepal and started his transport business in Bhairahawa – Lumbini Bus Service. He opened Durga Motor Parts store in Hetauda and operated truck service in Kathmandu, Pokhara, Butwal etc cities. He also started clothes store in Bhairahawa. By introducing 16 buses, he launched Desbhakta Bus service and established petrol pumps in Malekhu, Palpa, Butwal, Bhairahawa and Kathmandu. As he was a religious person, he constructed a Durga Temple and Gayetri Temple in Malekhu for eternal peace of the departed souls. He also constructed Dharmashala and public toilet in Malekhu. He played a leading role for the construction of the Durga Temple in Bhairahawa. Later, he launched Asian Pharmaceuticals Pvt Ltd with the aim of producing quality and standard medicines. Late Ghimire is survived by three sons -- Shanker, Krishna and Ganesh and four daughters Maya Khanal, Durga Mainali, Shanti Kandel and Devi Khanal. From the demise of Ghimire, the nation has lost an entrepreneur who had dreamed for transformation of the nation as a self-reliant and developed nation.
