If things go smoothly, Maoist Center chairman Pushpakamal Dahal is going to be elected as the new PM for the next nine months’ tenure.
So far, Dahal is not the candidate liked by India. It is the Indian compulsion to use Dahal for the time being.
The first part of Dahal’s tenure is to address both seen and unseen Indian interests in the constitution. First of all, addressing the demands of the tarai centric parties is Dahal’s prime job. If he will try to serve the Indian interests, he will have to face problem not only from the Nepali people but also from within his own party. The hardliner group in the party will never like Dahal’s pro-Indian activities.
Besides, this is the 21st century and the Nepali people are much more alert than before. They are watching every activity of the political leaders minutely. In fact, KP Sharma Oli did nothing mentionable during his tenure. The government even failed to give relief and support to the earthquake victims. Even though, Oli has been able to win the hearts of the entire Nepali people. Oli didn’t bow down to the Indians, instead, he chose to quit the PM’s post. If visited the social networks, everywhere, Oli’s stance has been appreciated. Status in the social networks are full with appreciation of Oli stating that although he was defeated in the PM’s post, he has won the Nepali people’s hearts!
Can Dahal make such an image to counter Oli, this is the first question.
Oli had endorsed some remarkable agreements with China, which would not only guarantee economic prosperity but also strengthen national sovereignty, independence and indivisibility of the country. Will Dahal be able to endorse these agreements? Can Dahal pave the way for construction of the railway line linking Kerung to Lumbini via Kathmandu and Pokhara?
Can Dahal continue the construction works of the international airports in Bhairahawa and Pokhara?
Can Dahal manage and host the upcoming visit of Chinese supreme leader and President Xi Jinping to Kathmandu?
Nepali people are curiously observing the performance of NC-MC coalition government made in India. If tried to sideling the good works started by Oli, the Nepali people will not tolerate and Dahal-Deuba partners will be exposed very badly.
After strong criticism from the people, the Oli government had decided to construct the Kathmandu-Nijgadh Fast Track Road Project by the government by changing the previous idea of handing over the project to the Indian party. Will Dahal retain on this stance?
Be that as it may, interesting times are ahead before Dahal and Deuba.
