On this auspicious occasion the former King will be receiving birthday greetings by the commoners today at Nirmal Niwasr, Maharajgunj. A Nirmal Niwas source informed that the gate will be opened at 11 am for the commoners who wish to extend Birthday greetings to former King His Majesty Gyanendra Bir Bikram Shah Dev. A 3570-member Main Civic Birthday Celebration Committee has been formed under the chairmanship of Prof. Bhalabhadra Bhandari to celebrate the former King’s birthday ins a grand manner. The Committee has organized a week-long programme on the occasion of the King’s birthday. On 7th July, the Committee is organizing a rally participated by the people from different walks of life. Different religious, cultural and social organisations are participating in the rally. The rally will end at the Nirmal Niwas by extending birthday greetings to the former King. Similarly, a large number of political workers, social workers, businessmen, journalists, retired government officials, retired military and police officials and many others will also be visiting Nirmal Niwas to extend birthday greetings to the former King. Every year, thousands of well-wishers of monarchy were visiting Nirmal Niwas to extend birthday greetings to the former King on the auspicious occasion of his birthday. A large number of people from different parts of the country arrive to Kathmandu just to extend birthday greetings to the former King. Last year the former King didn’t celebrate his Birthday as the country had faced a heavy loss due to the devastating earthquake and also economic blockade imposed by India.
