PUSHPARAJ-PRADHANBy PR Pradhan Three decades ago, Nepal’s economy was far better than South Korean economy; the value of Nepalese rupees was double than the Thai bhat; China was struggling to feed the population due to poverty; India was suffering from poverty and rampant corruption. Nepal was taking positive path of development as she was an exporter country of agro-products including rice; industrialization process was taking momentum and all the government undertakings were able to pay a profit tax to the government; Royal Nepal Airlines was already flying to Osaka in Japan and some European destinations and was planning to fly to the US; the Tribhuwan International Airport was considered as one of the best airports in the South Asian region; tourism was one among the flourishing industries in the country. Apart from all the above mention things, Nepal was considered as a peaceful country. After introduction of the multiparty democracy, the country’s downfall was witnessed in all sectors. Today, we cannot compare our economic standard with the above mentioned countries as they have left us far behind. While analyzing the reasons for downfall of our country, one can reach to a conclusion that it is because of the bad political leaders and the bad bureaucracy influenced by the very bad political leaders who gave and are giving first priority to their pity personal interests, family interests, relatives’ interests and party’s interests and the national interests are getting very least priority. Favoritism, nepotism and swycophancy have been flourished and rampant corruption has been witnessed in an organized manner in these three decades. The 1990 constitution was considered as one of the best democratic constitutions in the globe but the leaders were bad, from which the Maoist insurgency took momentum. Today, Baburam Bhattarai is regretting for his past deeds by launching a new political party – New Force. Today, Pushpakamal Dahal after failing to achieve the “revolutionary” goals of the “people’s war” has joined the parliamentarian system. Above 15 thousand innocent people sacrificed their lives in the ten year long Maoist insurgency; thousands of people were injured and have become physically disable. The political parties including the “revolutionary” parties have not been able to justify their past deeds. Unfortunately, the very notorious faces are driving the country even today. Being guided and influenced from foreign powers, the very leaders introduced a new but non-functional constitution. The more we remain engaged in this constitution, the more damage we will see in the country as this constitution is surely to invite political instability, intensifying disputes among different communities and eventually the threat of splitting the country. Leaders like Subhash Nembang and Krishna Shitaula are seriously concerned on implementation of this constitution, besides them, majority of the political leaders are unable to adopt this constitution with their hearts. Although it is said that this constitution is written by the people, above 90 percent of the population is against this constitution -- specially against federalism, secularism and republic. After spending trillions of taxpayers’ money, we got a constitution -- which in the words of senior UML leader, who was the ambassador to the South Korea, Kamal Koirala, is “Trishanku” (having no proper shape). Koirala has publically challenged that we will be heading nowhere by adopting this constitution. He has indicated that those culprits and criminals, who should be in jail have become the rulers, as result, the country is facing the current crisis. Koirala, who is closely observing the political world order, believes that if this constitution is implemented, the country can split. It is very surprising to see the very political leaders responsible for implementation of this constitution, launching protest programs in streets against the constitution. Also, the leaders, who were involved in promulgation of the constitution, believe that the constitution is non-functional, however, in public they are unable to speak. The Westerners, in an experimental basis, had forced our political leaders to adopt their agendas. Their agendas are very clear to understand, they want political instability in this country and want to secure strong presence to play against our two neighboring countries China and India. When the Westerners failed in disturbing political system in China, they aimed to fail the system through religion. By making Nepal a hub of Christian campaign, they have planned to enter into China’s Tibet, Autonomous Region in north, West Bengal, Bihar, UP, Uttarakhanda and India’s bordering states in the south with Bibles. The devastating earthquake on 25 April last year has become an opportunity for those Western INGOs/NGOs to enter into the earthquake damaged villages bordered with China. On one hand, they are carrying relief materials, on the other, they are holding Bible. By providing relief support, they are in a campaign of conversion of religion. The reason why they made the northern districts as their pocket area is because they want to peep into the Chinese territory. Many people might be wondering and asking why the Chinese government is reluctant in opening the Tatopan-Khasha trade route. The reason is because the Westerners had developed Tatopani area as a centre to carryout anti-Chinese activities. The government, specially the Home Ministry, which belongs to the Maoist Unity Center, has remained silent on such activities taking place in our soil as the leaders of the Center are known as followers of Christianity; they are covertly supporting the Christianity missions. From the acts of the Maoist leaders, it has become clear that they had launched the 10-year-long bloody war in cooperation with India as well as the West. Today, the very Maoist force has become a headache for the very Indians. Anti-Nepal scholar, SD Muni, had to write an article to expose the Maoist leaders stating that they had been able to launch such a long bloody war with all kind of supports including arms and other logistics from India. Now, it has become clear that they were also receiving support from the Western countries for declaring Nepal as a secular state. In conclusion, we only have one choice and that is to continue this constitution fully dominated with the foreign interests or scrape it as soon as possible by ensuring political stability and economic prosperity!
