When the Salt Trading Corporation announced that the sugar is out of stock, the sugar price has increased from 65 rupees to 85 rupees in the market. When the sugar cane’s price was fixed, it was said that the sugar price should not exceed 65 rupees. The farmers were compelled to sell their sugar cane at low cost whereas the factories are making good margin by hiking the sugar price. Not surprising, after the introduction of “loktantra” Nepal has become a haven for black marketeers!
