Kathmandu, April 25: Visiting South Korean National Assembly Speaker Chung Ui-hwa Monday called on President Bidya Devi Bhandari at Rastrapati Bhawan, Shital Niwas. During the meeting, matters relating to bilateral relations existing between the two countries, mutual interests and bilateral cooperation were discussed, the Office of the President said. On the occasion, Speaker Chung said Nepal and Korea enjoy the friendly and close relations, wishing that Nepal's post-earthquake-reconstruction campaign may take a momentum and the country get the way to prosperity soon. The Mount Everest, highest peak in the world and the Annapurna Mountain Range that lie in Nepal have enticed tourists from across the world, he said, praising Nepal for its natural beauty and terming it as a beautiful tourist destination in the world. South Korean Speaker Chung further said he will be coming to Nepal again to enjoy the mesmerizing beauty of mountain ranges of Nepal. Chung said he was informed by employers at his home that Nepali migrant workers reaching the South Korea through the Employment Permit System (EPS) are more honest and hardworking than their colleagues from other countries. The President expressed gratitude to the RoK government of its help in the search, rescue and relief allocation efforts in Nepal in the aftermath of the last year's earthquake, stating that Nepal has formally entered the reconstruction phase of the quake-damaged structures. Meanwhile, Mr Chung expressed his hope that enforcement of the new constitution here would lead the country towards the economic progress. During his meeting with the representatives of Nepal Chamber of Commerce Monday, Mr Chung said Nepal and South Korea are good friends, calling on the private sector to play a role in further strengthening the bilateral ties. Chamber Chair Rajeshkaji Shrestha expressed his hope that Chung's visit to Nepal would help further consolidate the bilateral ties and promote trade. Chung's delegation has 25 members. RSS
